ARE DOCTORS YIELDING NO HELP?
How many times have you been to the
doctor for your health problems?
If the answer is zero, then I would strongly advise you
start there first. It
is best for a medical professional to rule out serious
conditions before you start treating yourself.
But, odds are you have already been to
the doctor. Multiple
doctors. Multiple
doctors who have given you one of the following explanations:
1) Your condition is caused by stress
2) Its all in your head and everything is normal
3) Taking prescription drugs will alleviate your symptoms
4) You have acid reflux, heartburn, gas, or stomach
pains because of explanation #1 or #2, and to mask the
symptoms, we will use #3.
You get my point.
Most doctors have their hands full
treating patients who have KNOWN illnesses.
Patients who have a clear cut disease and whose
physical health woes are visible.
Therefore, it is much easier for them to pawn off your
symptoms to stress or other psychological factors, because
honestly, stress is the scapegoat of most unexplainable
illnesses.
Not to say that stress won’t make almost every
condition worse. I
totally believe that stress will complicate most every
biological function. What
I am saying is that stress is not the SOURCE of most ailments.
Stress is simply the biggest "amplifier" to
disease. You could constantly come up with new clever techniques
to reduce stress and find a "happy place" or
whatever, but without targeting
the source of your problems, they will never fully go away.
Having said that, rest assured that coping with and
eliminating stress will greatly improve your recovery time.
Ok,
so before I give you the impression that I have some sort of
conspiracy theory about doctors, let me get off on the right
foot. I think doctors are very intelligent. I
think they have proven to excel in their particular field and
deserve the respect that earned them their title. They
have to know more about the human body than you and I will
ever want to know. But therein lies the problem...
They know a small amount about ALL disease states, instead of
a large amount about any particular one. Also, how much
do you think your doctor knows about the drugs he prescribes
to you? I bet you that YOU know more than he does about
most of the drugs you take! That's right, doctors know very little about the
drugs they prescribe. It is the pharmacist who spends
years studying the drugs that know all the side effects,
interactions, and mechanisms of action of how they all
work. If you asked most doctors today about Candida,
they would probably dismiss the idea that it is more than just
a disease for immuno-compromised people. Even my wife, who is a pharmacist, learned in her
residency in the ICU department, that Candida infections are
prevalent in patients whose immune systems are very
weak. As you can see, most healthcare professionals only
know what they learn in school and aren't open to other
schools of thought. I bet if I told my gastroenterology
or internal medicine doctor that I had a Candida related infection that was causing
my gas, bloating, indigestion, etc. that she would just laugh
at me. They would tell me that I was actually producing too much
stomach acid and that is why I have these problems. She
would then keep prescribing me drugs such as Nexium, Aciphex,
or other acid reducing medications to treat the problem.
Want to know why I say that? Because that is exactly
what happened to me! But why? Don't doctors know that your body is supposed
to make acids for digestion? Doesn't this tell them that
there must be another SOURCE of the problem? And that is
just it! Doctors have been taught to treat SYMPTOMS
rather than SOURCES. So instead of teaching their
patients to practice better health by living in a daily
PROACTIVE maintenance mode, we have become the nation
that relies on pharmaceutical drugs to fix our health
issues. We think that we can live however we want and
eat and drink anything because there will be some little pill
to fix our ailments. It is my opinion that this REACTIVE
way of thinking that has led to the massive amounts of
healthcare problems that exist today. Just think of all
the diseases that exist today, that did not exist 50 years
ago. Some of them not even 20 years ago. There is
always a reason for everything. The human body was
designed to fight disease and therefore we must come to the
conclusion that we are killing ourselves with what we put in
our mouth. Some say death begins in the colon. I
say it begins way before that....in the mouth.
